How did you find out about the RMA community?
I was approached by the founders of the CMO community a few years back and was introduced to the RMA from there. I was initially invited to participate on a webinar, which was extremely well organised and received and this piqued my interest to find out more about the community and what it does.
Why did you choose to join RMA’s community?
The quality and quantity of valuable insights and output from the community impressed me, along with the calibre of the other members, and the infrastructure which was already in place (Slack, events, podcasts, etc.).
The opportunities to speak to other respected marketers from across other industries and understand how they are overcoming paint points and challenges is a huge bonus.
Why did this community stand out above market alternatives?
Again, the fact that the community is based on slack rather than a single whatsapp or telegram group, means it’s easier to navigate, contribute, find out what’s going on and gain knowledge and insights.
The community managers, content leads and others involved in running the community are great at collaborating and encouraging members to work together to share best practices.
Proactive, supportive, good energy, good balance of events, in person and virtual, good messaging.
Which aspects of the community did you find the most valuable?
The bank of knowledge and relevant information available has been very valuable, although I think the most valuable aspect for me has been the opportunity to take part in thought leadership pieces and collaborate with other community members on these.
Have you gained any insights or knowledge from the community? If so, how have you transferred these insights into your day-to-day practice?
Significantly! I’m super proud of being an RMA content ambassador! I’m very passionate about sharing insights, results, case studies and success stories (and what’s gone wrong, we can learn just as much from mistakes!).
Has this experience helped you to network? If so, how, and have you built any new connections?
Yes, definitely. I’ve been able to build new connections beyond my own industry segment, which is helpful to ensure I’m up to date on technology, approaches, solutions and partners.
How has this experience impacted your professional growth?
I would have had less opportunities to participate in promoting content marketing and revenue marketing and would have less expertise and authority.
What would you say to fellow marketing professionals considering joining RMA’s community?
Don’t hesitate! The ask of the community vs what you’ll get back is incredible. And the attitude of everyone involved is positive, supportive, curious and helpful.
Being part of our Slack community opens up a world of opportunities (including networking with your peers) so, if you haven't joined already, what are you waiting for?
